After communication with the electronic control unit (ECU) is established, the program will show sections of the diagnostic module.
In different ECU can be a different number of sections.

Depending on the type of ECU or the diagnostic protocol, it may take from 0.5 to 15 seconds to start working with the computer. Some ECUs require more time. This may be due to the peculiarities of the diagnostic protocol itself, and to reading the configuration of the car with a scanner.

The DTC section shows the number of DTC errors.

Identification Section

ScanDoc Authentication Menu

There are shown the ECU identification data. This data is necessary to determine the version of software and hardware, the calibration version of the control units. The identification data contains additional information necessary for the correct diagnosis of this control unit.

The program controls the software versions in the ECU and identifiers. If the program encounters an unknown identifier, a message is displayed. Continuation of work is usually impossible                      or limited. In some cases, the user can continue to work, taking responsibility for the risks.

Fault Codes (DTC) Section

The Fault Codes section displays error codes (DTCs) that the electronic control unit, their status and decryption have saved.

Fault Code List (DTC)

Most ECUs, in addition to storing the error number, can display the current error status in an additional column. Statuses show additional information on the code. For example, that the code is active or missing at the moment.

The scanner reads the error code and decodes it. The error may be numbered as specified by the manufacturer or by the OBD-II standard.

To send a command to delete DTCs from the ECU, press the button Clear button.

The OBD-II standard also provides codes defined by the manufacturer. These codes begin with the number P1000.

Errors defined by the OBD-II standard

Symbol Decryption
P P - Powertrain
B - Body
C - Chassis
U - Communication.
0 0 - Codes are defined by the OBD-II standard.
1 - Codes defined by the manufacturer.
1 System or vehicle code.

Some manufacturers standards only assume the numerical value of the error.

Freeze frame

Some blocks support the Freeze frame mode. When an error occurs, information about certain parameters is recorded in the memory of the control unit. This allows you to determine the conditions under which the error occurred. Freeze frame is recorded separately for each error.

If the Freeze frame is available for the error, the error name is displayed in orange in the form of a link. For information, click on the name of the error. Freeze frame will appear under error.

Some ECUs provide several Freeze frames with a single error code. Data is usually stored before, during, and after the appearance of the DTC.

If decryption is not defined for the error code, then you should contact technical support, as well as the dealer description for car repair.

Data Stream Section

Data Stream

In the "Data Stream" you can see the current information read from the sensors of the control unit.

In ECUs operating under the ISO-9141, KW71, KW-1284 protocols, each diagnostic parameter is requested separately by the scanner. Each request takes about 0.1 seconds. It takes about 1 second to display 10 parameters. The more parameters are displayed on the screen, the more time the screen will refresh.

Data Stream
  1. By default, 10 parameters are displayed on the page. You can select more options in the drop-down list.
  2. The total number of parameters subtracted from the computer.
  3. Number of pages with data. To switch to another page, click on the number of the page.
Data Stream

If you want to show only those parameters in which a particular word is mentioned, for example, “CDPF”, start writing it in the search window, as you type, parameters will be selected in the name of which “CDPF”.

To deselect options, delete all text in the search box.

The selection is carried out according to all the parameters, even if they are not shown on the screen.

Selection of parameters to display the graph

Parameters can be displayed in charts.

  1. Set the daws in the necessary fields.
The number of graphs on the screen is limited, so you can select no more than 5 parameters.
  2. To quickly clear all checkmarks, click Reset select.
  3. ClickChart, to see a graphical display of the selected parameters.

Red digit on the Y axis on the left Maximum value received
Синяя цифра на оси Y слева Minimum value received
Green horizontal line Average value
Red vertical line Measuring ruler. It works only in static mode (when the graphs do not move) setting the cursor in the graph sets the vertical measuring ruler. The numbers in the graph correspond to the value where the ruler is.

Section "Actuator Tests"

Many control units allow you to temporarily control actuators (nozzles, motors, solenoid valves) to check their performance.

Actuator Tests

The list of actuator tests depends on the specific ECU model.

By selecting an actuator, you can control it using buttons or knobs. Sometimes the current readings of some parameters are displayed. Each actuator is tested in its own way.

Section "Configuration"

Often, ECU manufacturers make universal blocks that are configured for a specific vehicle equipment.

Section Configuration

Configuration is also often called coding.

The number of encoding parameters depends on the specific ECU model.

Change the desired parameter and press Ok, the scanner will write data to the block.

Utilities Section

Utilities Section

Here are the specialized ECU functions, such as adaptations, discharges, etc.

Adaptations

Some components of car systems, after installing new parts, or periodically, require an adaptation procedure. This may be, for example, teaching the control unit the extreme values of the throttle sensor or clutch pedal.

Before adapting, it is strongly recommended that you read the car repair documentation that describes this procedure.
Reset Adaptations

The engine management system adapts to changes in the parameters of the sensors. When installing new spare parts, zeroing of previously saved corrections is required. To do this, reset the adaptations.

If you are unsure of the function being performed, then refer to the appropriate manual before activating it. It must be understood that after resetting the adaptation, with a partially defective MAF, the engine may not start.
Reset Service Intervals

It is made when changing the oil. The reset procedure for each manufacturer is different. In one case, it can be just one reset button, in another - programming the run interval until the next warning occurs. For a more detailed description, refer to the vehicle repair documentation.
